The 4th!

Happy 4th of July! Carrie took this picture as we were watching the fireworks in town. She got some really amazing pictures!
After church we went to our grandparent's house for lunch, then walked down the street to watch the parade.

...eating fresh lumpia while waiting for the parade...

Sam loved the parade, though some of the sirens and loud music gave him a little scare. He is such a sweet little brother. Here is his "smile-for-the-camera" smile. :)

In the afternoon we had a bunch of friends over for a picnic.
We set up tables of food in the "new house" and had hamburgers and lots of yummy salads and fruit...

I got out my guitar and Carrie and I sang God Bless the USA.

Emma and her friend Hannah at the picnic...

We went in to town late that evening to watch the fireworks in town. Here, we lighted some sparklers as we waited for the fireworks to start.

God bless the USA!!!

  1. It looks like you guys had a really fun day and even put your new house right to work. I got curious about what leumpia is. When I did a web search for a recipe I came up empty. What is it?

  2. Ha ha! Whoops. I spelled it wrong. It's supposed to be, lumpia, without the e in it. I'll change that on the post. Lumpia is like a Filipino version of an egg roll. They are SO good. A lady was selling them right near where we were watching the parade.
